Scanning through glossy pages filled with gorgeous pictures… cutting (not so) carefully around each beautiful photograph… and then stashing those great images in folders, or pinning them to already designed inspiration boards… ah, the good old days of high school when I actually had time to engulf myself in a magazine. :) Now when I’m standing in the grocery store check out lane, and my awesome husband catches me eyeing the latest trashy goodness on the news stands and throws it on our stash of veggies for me… I usually make it through about half of it. Until I have to actually go make dinner out of those veggies… and then I just never quite get around to the rest of it. I even bought Jasmine Star’s latest magazine for some serious photo inspiration, and that’s been half read. I just don’t find myself with time to sprawl out on my bedroom floor and get lost in the lovely images that create these magazines I love. BUT… I do have time while standing in that grocery store line, or whilst waiting for my car wash to finish, or while waiting for my husband to finish in the bathroom (I swear he just looks at Pinterest in there) all of these moments I do have. And I happen to zero patience. So waiting kills me. Like literally. Especially when my waiting is prolonged by stupid people. Then, wha-la – the smart phone. AND Pinterest. For real people, I’m addicted over here. Waiting for the Papa Murphy’s team of brilliant pizza connoisseurs (you know, like the one who walked over to the shift lead with a fist of cash and said, what do I do with this? Response: just type in the amount they gave you and hit enter, the machine will tell you how much to give back.) to make my dinner… no big deal. I’ll just flip through the “shinny pages” of Pinterest and see what I should do this weekend in Salt Lake. Or pin a few gorgeous photos of the next place we should vacation. Or see what I should make for dinner next Friday, so I’m not waiting for 40 minutes at Papa Murphy’s. Pinterest has changed my life. Ok, maybe that’s taking it a little far. But I love that it’s so easy to gather inspiration for dinner or vacations, or fabulous finds in Salt Lake, and then easily access them once I’m ready to make dinner, or plan a date. (Because let’s be honest, how often did I go dig up on of those “inspiration” file folders for future use? Yeah, let’s not count.) I’m a Pinterst addict.
So, confession time over. And excuses galore for why I’m addicted, done. I promise no more justifications from this lady. But, with all these inspirations I have at my finger-tips, I thought it would be fun to share how I took those inspirations and tweaked them into something new. So… Here, my internet friends, is the beginning of a new series. Posted once a week for your enjoyment, or, more accurately, my desire to take my addiction and use it to connect with you all. Because… (finger’s crossed) I’m willing to bet there’s a few of you out there with the same addiction. So, let’s gather around our pinned boards and share what we make from our inspirations. I will be posting weekly, and would love to hear what your take is on either the same inspiration, or other pinterest loves that you have.
*side note. committing to posting once a week: scary. HAVING to look at pinterest more, awesome.
To kick us off… I have a love of Utah, particularly Salt Lake. But when it comes to “where do you want to go to dinner?” or what to do on the weekend, brain freeze totally sets in. So I created a board called “Utah Lovin” of places and things that I love about Salt Lake. And, let’s be honest, I love food, so most of them are great places to eat. I also happen to be married to someone who also loves food. LOTS of food. So we have been on the hunt for an actually delicious “all you can eat Sunday brunch.”
Enter: Snowbird Mountain Resort. And a little compromise. I’d rather pay the same amount for a small breakfast of something delicious, and he’d rather just have a ton of it. So, I agreed to head up to Snowbird and try out their Sunday brunch. But, before brunch he had to hike with me to the top. :) Bonus: if you hike all the way to the top, you can ride the chair lift down, free! :) And, seriously, how gorgeous is this hike through the ski trails?!
Have you ever ridden the lifts down? TOTALLY different experience. And so awesome – I mean look at that view!?!!!!!
A gorgeous hike to work up an appetite, a fun ride down, and the brunch was actually fantastic. Especially paired with a “mountain mimosa.”
This pin, total win.
