Laundry detergent is always a little more than I’d like. Because, mostly, I’d like to be buying Meyers or some other such organic brand. Because I’m one of those fortunate people whose skin cares. But I just can’t quite bring myself to pay that much more for soap. Then…. I happened upon this recipe for homemade laundry detergent. That costs WAY less then the non-fancy kind at the store! Win win. Plus, it’s actually super easy to make. I think the part that takes the longest is waiting for the hot water to boil. And that’s only because I like triple the recipe when I make it so that I don’t have to make it again for a long time. Win. :)
The only thing I changed from the original recipe was that I added three DoTerra oils. The first time I made it I only added the Tea Tree oil (for its ability to sanitize) but the hubster wanted his laundry to smell nice too. So I also added in some Lavender and Lime this time around. Will def do that again. Although I love making me own detergent, I am on the lookout for another recipe… not because I don’t like this one, I’d just like something to compare it to. Do any of you make detergent you love?
Totally make it in a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot. :) Since we’ve been remodeling our house I have a few of those laying around.
I put most of it in old laundry soap containers, but I did fill a few of these awesome vodka bottles. :)
What do you make from scratch that I should too?
