This engagement shoot was, perhaps, one of my favorites. Half because Beth & Zack are such a fun-loving, all around awesome couple, and half because Ansel is such an awesome kid. This was no ordinary engagement shoot. For this one we got to include Beth & Zack’s son Ansel. So it was an engagement-family session. And there’s just something that a kid like Ansel can bring to a shoot. Mostly, lots and lots of laughter, followed up with sweet ninja moves.
Beth & Zack met a school, oh 10 years ago, and have grown their relationship in a beautiful way since. He is her rock, her steady. She is the bubbly fun and sweet to his life. Together they have a joy and laughter for life that is sprinkled with adventure and love. No wonder their kid loves to contemplate the finer things of life. Ansel, although a little shy at first, did not take long to warm up. He then showcased his seriously awesome ninja skills to Garett & his newly found modeling skills for me.
We started in Downtown Salt Lake City, because it is a place where this adorable family loves to frequent. There are many wonderful memories here.
To be honest, I’m not sure which I love more, the serious face or rolling in laughter.
I did get to sneak in a few of just Beth & Zack, and man are they a gorgeous couple.
Smack in the middle of downtown is this fantastic living art structure. It was built by one of Zack’s classmates, and was initially all straight. As people live and move through it (or play in it) it changes and becomes a different piece of art.
How awesome is this kid?!
I really wish I knew what he said :)
Here, friends, are those ninja moves. Garett beware.
While Garett was capturing ninja moves, I was able to grab the laughter those moves caused.
All I did was tell him where to sit… those blue steel looks – all Ansel.
This might be one of my favorites that Garett captured from the evening. There is so much being said about what you can’t see in the photo. It captures the mood in a way that I’m just loving.
Pirate socks + Converse = perfection.
I also really, really love how Zack looks at his beautiful soon-to-be bride. She’s gorgeous, and he knows it. But more on this later.
I think I figured out where Ansel got his ninja skills.
We finished off the downtown portion of this shoot, and headed for the Avenues. Where Dolcetti Gelato provided some seriously amazing tastiness. This is apricot gelato. Made from the owner’s own trees. AMAZING. It’s just around the corner from these guy’s so it’s another favorite full of fantastic summer memories.
After getting our fill of this tasty goodness (which, side note, if you go & get this amazing gelato, you must try the B&Z special – apricot gelato paired with coconut sticky rice gelato. YUM.) Ok, now that we’re done drooling over that… we let Ansel go play with his Aunt and head up for some sunset shots over the Avenues. You’ll want to check back soon for those. :)
